Elara Clinical & Forensic Psychology is a small, woman-owned forensic psychology group practice. We are seeking a full-time clinical psychologist licensed in California. Part-time will be considered with the understanding that a transition to full-time is expected. 

This role is best suited for someone who wants to grow their forensic career within an established, collaborative practice. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct forensic mental health evaluations (e.g., competency, NGI, violence and sexual violence risk assessments, or civil/personal injury evaluations). 

  • Administer psychological testing and conduct risk assessments

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with attorneys and referral sources

  • Write thorough, well-organized, forensic reports

  • Provide expert witness testimony in court or depositions, as needed

  • Travel to correctional facilities, hospitals, jails, or other forensic settings for in-person evaluations, as required

  • Collaborate with attorneys, courts, or other referral sources

Required Qualifications

  • Unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in California 

  • Must have educational and clinical training in forensic psychology. ECPs welcome to apply!

  • PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology

  • APA-accredited internship in clinical or forensic psychology

  • Experience conducting forensic evaluations in private practice or other settings (e.g., correctional facilities, state hospitals, jails)

  • Strong report-writing skills

  • Knowledge and training on clinical and forensic assessment measures 

  • Able to work independently (with ongoing support as needed) and manage multiple, ongoing cases

  • If you are a neuropsychologist, you must either be board certified or at least have extensive postdoctoral certification and training in neuropsychology and be able to work independently in this regard 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology 

  • Experience with specific forensic mental health assessment specific evaluation types (e.g., competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, risk assessment, civil forensic matters)

  • Prior expert testimony

Position Details

  • Employment type: Full-time (or part-time) employee; W2 employee (we are not accepting 1099 applicants at this time)

  • Schedule: Primarily remote, with in-person availability for some evaluations and testimony, as needed

  • Compensation: Competitive compensation that includes a $60 clinical hourly + per-case “bonus” (varies based on cost of evaluation). Bonus compensation is commensurate with experience and performance. Admin hours also paid at rate of $25 per hour. However, our administrative team takes care of most admin-related tasks.

  • Location: Los Angeles, CA (remote/hybrid) - serving all of California virtually
