Dr. Byron Rivera, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in California with experience in providing psychological services across medical, community mental health, rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary healthcare settings. He specializes in comprehensive psychological assessment, clinical evaluation, and evidence-based treatment for diverse populations, including individuals with complex psychological, medical, and psychosocial needs.
Dr. Rivera currently serves as Training Director and Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Heritage Clinic, where he oversees an APA-accredited training program, supervises clinicians at multiple levels of professional development, and provides leadership in clinical operations and program development. He has experience conducting psychological and neurocognitive assessments, supervising psychological services, and consulting with healthcare professionals and community organizations.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rivera serves as an Independent Evaluator for a Medical Review Organization, where he reviews disability claims, analyzes clinical records, conducts peer consultations, and contributes to the preparation and revision of professional psychological reports.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rivera has worked with a broad range of populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, diverse cultures and identities, severe mental illness, substance use disorders, chronic medical conditions, trauma-related concerns, and cognitive impairment. Dr. Rivera earned his Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) and Master of Arts in Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary and completed advanced clinical training through Loma Linda University School of Medicine, including a doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship. He has also contributed to research involving neuropsychological assessment, trauma, immigrant family mental health, and health disparities.
A native Spanish speaker, Dr. Rivera provides services in both English and Spanish.
